Studying lightweight construction – one global challenge, many different solutions:
Due to its importance as a game-changer technology and driver of innovation, the topic of lightweight construction is highly valued at Chemnitz University of Technology. The Chair of Lightweight Structures and Plastics Processing offers courses on the topic of lightweight construction in six Bachelor’s, seven Master’s and one Diploma degree programme:
Bachelor and Master
Mechanical Engineering | Sports Engineering | Automotive Production | Electromobility | Regenerative Energy Technology | Medical Engineering
Master
Textile Structures and Technologies | Advanced Manufacturing | Advanced Functional Materials
Diploma
Mechanical Engineering – specialising in Lightweight Construction, Textile and Plastics Technology
The degree programmes provide the necessary know-how to conserve resources in the development of components and to achieve greater efficiency compared to conventional technologies – and combine teaching with the latest research in a unique way.
HEAVY THINGS MADE LIGHT
Climate protection and the growing scarcity of resources require new technologies for the efficient utilisation of raw materials and energy. With this in mind, the Chair of Lightweight Structures and Plastics Processing at Chemnitz University of Technology has been training engineers in the field of lightweight construction since 2006. Textile affinity is particularly important in the material development, technological implementation and testing of fibre-reinforced textile composites – with potential applications ranging from aerospace, bicycles, buses and trains to bridges, wind turbines and carbon concrete furniture.
