Bachelor’s degree course in Textile Structures and Technologies
The course is aimed at students with an interest in technology and creativity. The training is practical and application-oriented. The foundation course is dedicated to engineering and economics content. A specialisation can be chosen from the fifth semester onwards: functional textiles or textile and leather-based automotive components. The active use of the extensive machinery offers outstanding opportunities to learn and apply textile technologies comprehensively and to implement your own designs.
Graduates can expect a wide range of prospects in the textile and clothing industry, with automotive suppliers or in research institutions.
Start of studies: regularly in the winter semester
Standard period of study: 7 semesters
Degree: Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.)
Follow-up qualification: Master of Science (at the TU Chemnitz)
TEXTILE CAN DO MORE!
The Institute of Textile and Leather Technology builds on over 170 years of textile education tradition in south-west Saxony. Today it is part of the West Saxon University of Applied Sciences Zwickau. In small study groups, the lecturers can respond to the students individually and the students in turn can actively participate. The course content takes into account the structural change in the textile industry towards technical textiles and lightweight construction with fibre composites. Research focuses on product development as well as functionalisation and surface finishing. This gives textiles new properties: they can illuminate, heat, measure, warn, filter and much more.
