Eine Marke der STW Sächsische Textilwerke GmbH
Carl-Spengler-Straße 1 | 08451 Crimmitschau
Founded
1868 as a cotton weaving mill by Robert Eschke in Mühltroff in Vogtland
Milestones
1904 Eschke’s sons continue the ‘gold, silver, cotton and silk weaving mill’. | 1940s to 1980s Karl Eschke steers the weaving mill through difficult times: in 1966, the foundation stone is laid for the reconstruction of historical silk fabrics by reworking ‘Prussian silks’. | 1992 Wolfgang Eschke, great-grandson of the founder, privatises the weaving mill, which has been operating as VEB Brokat Mühltroff since 1972, and takes it to an international level. | From 2003 The Eschke family operates as ‘eschke seidenmanufaktur’ in Crimmitschau and retires in 2020. | Since 2020, SEIDENMANUFAKTUR eschke® has been a brand of STW Sächsische Textilwerke GmbH.

HISTORICAL BEAUTY WITH A NEW LOOK
Textiles were a defining spatial element in almost all eras. In addition to their function, they often conveyed splendour and taste. SEIDENMANUFAKTUR eschke® stands for ‘authentic textile reconstruction’ – and has restored a large number of such valuable fabrics in this way. These include textiles for stately castles, important villas or prestigious public buildings throughout Europe as well as liturgical vestments. Using the historical context of design, material and technology, SEIDENMANUFAKTUR approaches the original step by step – so that old beauty shines in new elegance and remains timelessly usable.
