Bachelor’s degree programme in Ecology and Environmental Protection
Energy transition and global warming, biodiversity protection, sustainability, resource efficiency and land use are hotly debated topics that the Ecology and Environmental Protection specialisation deals with. The degree programme, which was established in 1994, is almost unique in the Federal Republic of Germany with its generalist and interdisciplinary science-oriented courses.
Bachelor’s degree programme in Green Engineering
A degree in Green Engineering is an excellent preparation for a career in the field of sustainable development and environmental technologies. It provides a comprehensive understanding of the principles and technologies of green engineering so that the unique interface between process engineering and mechanical engineering can be mapped and innovative, environmentally friendly solutions for real problems can be developed.
Start: regularly in the winter semester
Standard period of study: 7 semesters
Degree: Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Engineering
In addition to teaching, both the application-oriented and the basic research is orientated towards the focal areas of ‘Energy and Environment’ and ‘Materials, Structure, Surface’.
RAW MATERIALS, RESOURCES, RECYCLING
Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences is one of the strongest research universities for applied sciences in Germany. One example is the interdisciplinary partnership ‘LaNDER³ – Lusatian Natural Fibre Composites: Decentralised Energy, Raw Materials, Resources, Recycling’.
The aim is to economically break down natural fibres from biomass by recycling waste materials and process them into high-tech composites. This results in lightweight, resilient materials that are moulded in an energy-efficient manner, coated in a functional way and returned to the material cycle after use. These ‘new’ composite materials are predestined for future lightweight construction applications.
