EMBROIDERED: FROM ROBOT ARM TO AEROPLANE WINDOW
In 1991, Dr Horst Rothe from the Institute for Polymer Research in Dresden had the great idea of using embroidery machines to lay down and fix rovings (continuous fibres). This allows fibre composite components to be reinforced in accordance with their load-bearing capacity. After several years of development, Tailored Fibre Placement (TFP) is one of the most important textile technologies for the production of reinforcement structures. Thanks to it, Hightex supplies tailor-made reinforcements (preforms) for very light, highly rigid and high-strength fibre composite components. Hightex fulfils the special requirements in the mobility sector, particularly in the aerospace and automotive industries, from the BMW iX to the Eurocopter and Airbus aircraft.
