RESEARCH & TEACHING: FROM FIBRES TO 3D TEXTILES
The Laboratory of Textile Physics and Mechanics (LPMT) is one of two French laboratories for fibre and textile sciences. It is specialized in the design of fibre materials, characterisation methods and the manufacture of fibre structures. One-, two- and three-dimensional sets are studied at each level by making the link between the process, the structure and the properties. The LPMT was founded more than 40 years ago as part of the ENSISA (École Nationale Supérieure d'Ingénieurs Sud Alsace) to train engineers in the field of textiles in particular. The laboratory carries out its research on the campus of the UHA (University of Upper Alsace). It maintains close relations and co-operations with many other countries.
