Master programme: Sustainable Textile Technologies and Outdoor Equipment
Textile = clothing? Outdoor equipment, medicine, mechanical engineering, aerospace, automotive = textiles! Textiles permeate all areas of daily life and make textile knowledge a universal basis for activities in a wide range of industries with great demand for development engineers, sales staff, laboratory technicians and many more.
Focal points and special features
Choice of two specialisation options: production of composites and production of sustainable textiles and outdoor equipment | Special lectures, e.g. sustainability in the textile chain, high-performance fibres, programming of knitting machines | Master’s theses with company participation | Practical implementation of the course content as textile projects in the technical centre
Start of studies: regularly in the winter semester
Standard period of study: 4 semesters
Degree: Master of Science (M.Sc.)
THE LOCAL SPORTS SHOE
The Chair of Textile Technologies at TU Chemnitz is dedicated to all textile issues from classic fabrics to high-performance textiles. Research focuses on innovative processes for new applications, the design and modification of textile machines and product development with a focus on technical textiles. Equally important: the development of new sources of natural fibres and the advancement of the concept of sustainability. Example project: the knitted sports shoe – not only unique, but also close to home. From the first thread to the finished model, it only travelled 80 km in Saxony!
