Jacquard fabrics from Hohenstein-Ernstthal
‘Hohenstein blanket weavers’ were a byword for quality around 1900. Jacquard weaving enables sophisticated patterns. Upholstery fabrics and tapestries such as the ‘roaring stag’ above our grandparents’ sofas are also part of the range.
The 200-year-old technology leads to today’s computer technology. 7,000 punched cards with 9 million pattern positions (= pixels) are necessary for this. You can experience this live in the museum.
